Steve Ogden's at it again. The award-winning director of
Flakes is developing an all new animated Sci-Fi adventure
series. Set in the future in a lunar mining colony, the
series promises intrigue, action, and (knowing Ogden) a
big dose of Character.
Curious? I am. The hints he's dropped at his official Moon
Town website
do a lot to whet the appetite. Check out his production
blog full of great sketches, test renders and
other behind-the-scenes stuff, as well as his weekly podcast,
recorded behind the wheel of his car on his way to work.
If the film is half as entertaining as the blog and podcast,
this should be worth the wait.
Profile intro by Tandi Kapuchin.

"I suppose in some ways it's appropriate that Moon
Town would be the final film profiled at AnimWatch. After
all, I shut down the website so I could work on my personal
projects, Moon Town chief among them.
The film is important to me. After years of watching other
artists put out really great films, writing about it, interviewing
them, and sharing in their excitement, I finally couldn't
just sit by the sidelines and write about other people's
films any more. So, I'm on a fast track to getting this
one out. I can't possibly get Moon Town done soon enough
to satisfy myself.

"Yet,
I want it to be quality, too. Because as much as it's inspired
by other indie animations that have rolled through AnimWatch,
it's also inspired by Serenity/Firefly, the new Battlestar
Galactica, Star Wars, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Pica
Towers and Wallace and Gromit. I love the storytelling in
each of those TV shows and films, and that's the target
I'm shooting for.
Stay tuned. I hope to have something cool to show you soon."
