Aardman Animations is finally going digital with their new film "Flushed Away." Catch a sneak peak on the Were-Rabbit DVD.
They specifically said they didn't want a shiny new CG movie; they wanted to maintain the scruffed up feel of traditional stop-motion. I can't wait to see what Aardman does to CG!!

That's pretty cool. As much as I like looking at stop motion work, it's just a really impractical form of animation, but should translate very well to the digital medium.
I've always wondered what it would be like to tackle a CG project with a Stop-Motion sensibility.

Aardman is better than anyone at getting that certain something into their digital stuff to make it not look all sterile. The Presentators is a prime example.
Maybe StudioAKA is a close second (Pica Towers, etc.)
Stop Mo may be a "really impractical form of animation" but it has an inherent charm that is easily lost. Funny how the most charming forms of animation are the ones that involve the most work (hand drawn 2D, stop mo, oil-paint-on-glass...)
