....and no, that's (probably) not the plot of the re-resurrected movie. More here:

As long as it is helmed by Pixar, I wouldn't worry.
I think all of the characters should go to Hong Kong for a field trip / rescue mission.

I dont know if I entirely agree with this one being released. I feel that this series has been played out. The first 2 were successful and I feel that the 3rd one is just trying to play off that success.
Maybe it will work... maybe not. Have to wait and see what happens.

Some good news about the sequel:
Disney's plot idea consisted of a recall of Buzz Lightyear toys, which includes Andy's, driving a group of toys to venture to Taiwan to rescue Buzz, who has been malfunctioning. After Disney's acquisition of Pixar, and after the project was temporarily scrapped, John Lasseter announced a plan for an improved storyline. The plot idea consists of Andy growing up and growing out of his own toys. The plot would end when the toys moved to a preschool, where they would never get lost or grown out of. From early research, this was the expected original plot. This ending is actually based on an earlier treatment of Toy Story, which stars Tinny from Tin Toy as the main character, who also ends up, along with a ventriloquist dummy, at a preschool.
I'm glad they aren't going with the first idea. Let's hope the third is the best one (which would be hard to top after 2).

Hmm, used up and cast aside? Struggling with rejection and a scrambling to redefine one's own worth in the universe? sounds like themes I'd be excited to see explored.
