You frequent visitors of the Forum are probably as well-connected as anyone with regard to what's up at AnimWatch. But we've started a NEW BLOG (http://animwatch.animationblogspot.com/) at AnimationBlogspot that I suspect may drum up a little bit of activity. I will be teasing future articles there and will probably spill a bit of other random info as well.

Hope to see you there!

I'll stop by, might become a good complement to the main site for the casual animaddict. :)

This is great! I've added it to my bookmark as well.

Which reminds me, I should update my blog sometime. Been a while. :(

I’ve never been much interested in blogs. What is the difference between posting on Animwatch or posting a comment on The Animwatch Blog?

I really don’t know the difference between the two.

I will add that sometimes I see a animation that I consider below average, (sometimes way below average) and people on Animwatch are posting comments saying “It’s wonderful”. (And I’m scratching my head, thinking, ‘I don’t get it. Are these people sober?’) Is the blog where you can say the bad things about a animation? Or vent? Or be more honest?

Hi, Kori

Good question. I'll try to explain all the different places AnimWatch is littered about the web.

This FORUM is a place where fans can come together to talk about animation and films in general. Occasionally, directors of the films come in here, and so it's a great place for fans to ask the directors questions directly, and get a discussion going. It's really place for fans and directors.

The films at the regular AnimWatch.com website have been through a jury process in order to be profiled, but the Forum is a little looser. Anyone can post links to films in here for discussion, or as works in progress or something like that. The upside is you don't have to wait for AW approval to get some eyes on your project. The downside is that the films are not put through the approval process from which the rest of the site benefits, so Heaven only knows what you'll see. As to people fawning over substandard content, all I can say is diff'rent strokes for diff'rent blokes. As I say, these films haven't been through my approval process, so I don't stand behind them, and everyone is welcome to their own opinion.

The AnimWatch Blog is simply another place I post info about the site in order to bring people to AnimWatch.com and try to increase the audience. Some people are real BLOG addicts and are website-phobic (they find a whole website overwhelming), and this is a good way to reach those people. I only post AnimWatch approved content there, and the comments people post there are just in response to my posts.

Frankly, for frequent visitors of AnimWatch.com and the Forum, the BLOG is going to be a bit redundant. But it's not for the frequent visitor as much as it is intended to bring people to the site.

However, my Soapbox columns run exclusively at the BLOG for a few weeks before they go into the Very Popular and Award-Winning AnimWatch Podcast, which of course you should be listening to as frequently as possible...

Hope that helps.

I think its good to vent different opinons as long as the comments are motivated, although it can be hard to post criticism on animation since its a fairly small community that does the work and it demands in my opinion alot from the creator. Atleast that's how I feel about it. I think that it's one thing to see that something is not really working in a piece, and another thing to know what will make it work, and if I dont know what would make it work, I rather keep it to myself rather than posting a negative comment with no motivation or suggestion on how it could improve.

When it comes to different films I'll post about it if it has some qualities that I think might attract to some even though I might not fully appreciate the end product myself. I belive that most works will find an audience if it has some level of redeeming quality put into it, even though it might add to the audience accepting the mediocre as Steve mentioned in a soapbox not long ago, if I havent mixed things up (happens on occasion :P).

Perhaps I went to much offtopic from the thread now, since its about blogs, but I find this part of the subject in the thread interesting.
